Bringing together some of the finest talent from around Northern Nevada, Brassakwards is a rollicking jump-blues band based in Reno, Nevada. Although the group is rooted in the jump style, the band performs a variety of other styles that include blues, jazz, and swing music of the 30's, 40's, and early 50's. Their trademark jump tunes include such titles as "Zoot Suit Riot," "You and Me (and a Bottle Makes Three)," and "Uptown Stomp." In addition to these popular hits, their enthusiastic versions of "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" and "Tatooine Swing" guarantees to keep the house rockin'! According to a recent review by the Reno Gazette-Journal, the band is quickly gaining a name for itself as "one of the liveliest Reno bands playing these days."

If you haven't yet had the opportunity to hear Brassakwards in performance, you've probably seen one or more of its members playing in various groups throughout the Reno-Tahoe area. The group's members are loaded with experience ranging in styles as diverse as Dixieland and Jazz to Bluegrass and Classical. The 7-member group includes Larry Machado (leader and trumpet), Julie Machado (bass and vocals), Hap Hazard (trumpet and arranger), Brach Thompson (keyboards), Robert Lightfoot (drums and arranger), Bob Barker (trombone), and Nick Nichols (tenor sax). When this talented combination hits the stage, you're in for a night of hot dancing and foot-stomping fun!
